So, Kevin won the election. He did not use my speech material. He did make special mention (first thing) of aboriginal people in his version of the speech. He's hinted at an apology. He's working on it. But after being sworn in, his first official penstroke was used to slap GWBush and JWHoward in the face. He signed Oz up to Kyoto. Fair enough. About time and whatnot.

To our credit, we rung in the election results at the musical Keating. (pictured) And with a decidedly theatrical lefty crowd cheering results at interval, it was a real hoot of democratic regime change.

I did my best to keep up with the in-jokes that well predate my time in Oz. Luckily most of the players are still in the game, and haven't changed much. Alexander Downer still looks shocking in fishnets and heels.

Oh, and did I forget to mention that not only did the Liberal Party lose the election, John Winston Howard lost his seat to Maxine McKew. Bloody legend! You just don't get a much more satisfactory election result than that.
